Life is a Choice Sun, 13 Aug 2017 15:30:01 +0000 en-US hourly 1 His first evaluation report Sun, 13 Aug 2017 15:30:01 +0000 Because of his late development, the nephew is enrolling in therapy clinic aside from enrolling at the school.  He went to class on weekdays and therapy every Saturday.  Sunday is the only day where he can rest and play a lot with his friends.  He is showing developments already after three months at school, but still, he needs some improvements.  In all fairness to my nephew, he is willing to learn because he participates during classes.  The only problem is that he gets distracted easily.  He can’t focus on what he is doing when he hears the noise.  He is struggling I must say being with kids who speak fluently than him, but he is trying his best to communicate.  He can’t express fully because of his communication problem.

Last Friday, his teacher gave us his first evaluation report to be shown to his therapist.  His teacher and his therapist exchanging evaluation starting last week so that the therapist will know what kind of re-enforcement he will apply for my nephew, as well as his teachers.  The evaluation report is not bad at all, in fact, is gave us a happy face reading the evaluation of his adviser teacher.  We do hope that the nephew will show improvements for him to cope up with his classmates and for him to express himself freely and better.  This is not an easy job for the nephew but showing his eagerness and excitement each day at school give us hope that the nephew will be ready to enroll in kindergarten next school year.  The nephew is only four (4) years old, he has all the time to learn.  We will do our job at home too.

Nutrition month culmination Sat, 05 Aug 2017 14:42:57 +0000 July 28, 2017, was the nutrition month culmination of my nephew at school.  We were told to bring the assigned foods and fruits nothing more nothing less.  I do not know anything about the said event because I was not able to attend the meeting.  When I arrived at the school, all parents are busy preparing and beautifying their tables.  They are putting decorations and arranging the foods and fruits they bring.  I must say they have good table decorations, sumptuous foods on the table and amazing decorations of fruits.  It is sad that our table is empty.  I was not informed that the table presentation is a contest.  The most presentable, and the go foods, glow foods and grow foods are present on the table.

I am sad because of what had happened but I must accept that the parents in my group do not care at all.  They do not care if our table is almost empty, to them as long as they bring the assigned foods to them.haha!  They have a point though.  We are all busy to have a meeting on how are we going to do to our table for the table competition.  Better luck next time for our group.  The good thing is that I learned from it, I have more ideas on foods and table preparation for future needs.  The next nutrition month culmination I have the idea on what would be our table look like.  Because I want to experience winning too.  Of course, when given the chance.

Career guidance week at school Wed, 26 Jul 2017 15:09:16 +0000 One of the activity at school is career guidance.  It is like knowing what would be the students want to be when they grew up.  They will be wearing the costume of what they want to be in the future.  You will be seeing young professionals.  And that makes the career guidance week exciting.  The kids are so cute wearing different costumes of professionals like nurse, police, army, chef, flight attendant, teacher, lawyer, politicians, and much more.  Parents are giving their best to make their kids look like one.  I must say the parents are supporting their kids and so proud of their kids.  One thing that is nice about their career guidance week is that the kids will have an idea of they would like to be when they grow up.

My two nieces who are in high school level wanted to become a teacher and so they are wearing the uniform of the teacher.  The nephew in grade three wears the uniform of the policeman.  And my grade one nephew wears the cap of an engineer.  He changes his profession now.  Before he wants to become a soldier because he wants to serve the country and to keep the safety of everybody.  But lately, he likes to draw houses and buildings and he keeps on saying that he wants to become an engineer.  The nephew is still six years old but he dreams of building the big house for his family.  He has big dreams I must say and I hope that it will come true.  As I can see, he is determined to become an engineer, it is a long way for him, and I wish him all the best and he will succeed in life.

Wanted to become a teacher Mon, 17 Jul 2017 13:28:00 +0000  In their English class, the niece was asked about her dream to become in the future.  First, she wants to become a nurse, then computer related course, and now she wanted to become a teacher in the future.  Indeed the kid’s mind is changing.  She is confused because she has lots of things in mind.  She asked my opinion.  I was glad because she trusted me on that.  I just told her to listen and follow what her heart says.  She has to lists down the advantages and disadvantages of that profession she wants to become before deciding.  Also, she has to consider her interest of that profession for her to enjoy it more.  She told me she wants to become a teacher.

Even though she has seen how busy and difficult it is to take up this noble profession, still she wants to become one.  She is inspired by her aunt who is a teacher.  She also wants to teach kids in the future and to share her knowledge.  Well, her aunt is her role model.  She has the heart to teach kids and wants to be with kids.  Of course, her aunt is flattered and happy.  We hope that the niece will pursue this dream for her to share her knowledge and help mold the future generation to become a better person.  The niece has the long way to go, she might change her mind along the way.  Whatever it is, I pray that she will succeed in life and will achieve her dreams and goals in life.  Good luck to my niece.

Still the people’s champ Sun, 09 Jul 2017 14:00:09 +0000

A week ago, was the much-awaited boxing fight between Manny Pacquiao and Jeff Horn in Brisbane, Australia.  The fight is exciting because Pacquiao will try to blemish the undefeated record of Jeff Horn.  Both fighters will for sure put up a good fight.  The fight that the people will surely enjoy.   It is twelve rounds of boxing.  And over 55, 000 people watching the arena. The family is watching the live streaming.  Unfortunately, Manny Pacquaio loses the fight.  Manny Pacquiao did give his best to be victorious, however, he is not that lucky that day.  Jeff Horn remained undefeated and the new welterweight champion of the world.

It was one sad day for the country but still proud of the country’s pride.  Some are questioning why Jeff Horn won.  Many say it is because he is from Australia that is why he won the fight.  I did watch the fight, and I really thought Manny wins the game.  I felt he was robbed.  Well, I guess the judges see it differently.  They have the unanimous decision and their decision is final.  Though Manny Pacquiao was not able to bring home the bacon, to us Filipino he is still the champion.  He is still the people’s champ.  There are rumors that they will have rematch, this will be an exciting one.  When that happens, I really hope Manny Pacquiao will be victorious.

Teaching them to be independent Tue, 27 Jun 2017 14:53:50 +0000 I remember when I was little, my late mother always teach us to do household chores and clean our things.  She always told us to be responsible and independent.  I did not understand it back then because all I could care is to go out and play with my friends.  But when my mother passed away, I understand why my mother taught us to be a responsible and independent person.  I am so thankful to my late mother for teaching us early.  It was really difficult when my mother died, but we were able to survive because of her teachings.

I am sharing it because this is what my older sister did to her first born (son).  She wants him to be responsible and independent as early as possible.  The nephew is only six (6) years but is trained by my sister to be a good person.  The nephew is grade one now.  And we are happy that the school is practicing the kids to be an independent person.  Parents are not allowed to enter the school during lunch time.  The kids are told to bring foods for lunch and will eat inside the classroom.  I must say it is a good practice.  I feel relieved that I do not have to go to school anymore during lunch time.  Hopefully, the nephew will become a responsible and independent person.

]]> Life is a world of challenges Fri, 16 Jun 2017 14:51:15 +0000 We do encounter lots of difficulties and trials in life.  It makes life more challenging. Though it makes it wants to give up especially when the trials are too heavy for us to take.  We sometimes asking why it happens to us?  But we must know that those difficulties won’t be given to us if we cannot handle it well.  Burdens makes us wiser and stronger.  We just must believe in ourselves that we will get back and surpass whatever trials and difficulties we are facing. And most importantly, we should keep the faith, continue praying and call God’s guidance always.

My brother is facing another trial now.  His second daughter was admitted in the hospital last Monday.  I feel his pain and feel so sorry for him.  He even said that he is the unluckiest person on earth.  It is not good to say it, but I understand that he said it out of desperation and frustration.  I know that my brother is a strong person.  He can handle whatever trials comes in his way.  But just recently, he just felt it is too much.  As a family, we extend our arms for him.  Give him comfort and encouraging words for him to not lost faith and believe in God.  Everything happens for a reason.  Maybe it is God’s way of testing him on how long the brother will be able to handle it and his faith to Him.  To my brother, do not give up and continue moving on.  We are here for you.  And will help you as much and we could.

]]> Will continue the therapy after the summer class speech therapy Sun, 04 Jun 2017 12:00:30 +0000 The nephew has just finished his summer class of speech therapy.  He got four smileys from his teacher and we are so proud of him.  We are glad that the nephew shows development in speaking.  He can slowly communicate with us now and we are so happy for him.  He will continue his therapy for six months for him to develop more.  We were advice by the teacher to enroll the nephew in regular class for him to interact with other kids.  The decision of the sister to have home schooling for the nephew is cancelled.  Because we will enroll him in regular class because he is normal just that his development is slow.

The sister is seeking advices from friends and co-teacher about her son’s condition.  And home schooling is their advices, and then go to developmental pediatrician for evaluation.  However, the nephew’s teacher at speech therapy class told us to have him enrolled in regular class. And told us that the nephew is now ready to go to school and be with other kids, provided that the student in his class should be at most 15 students.  More than 15 students are not good for him.  It would be more crowded for him and he will not be able to concentrate.  The nephew is now enrolled and their classes will start on June 13, 2017.  The nephew will continue his therapy for six months, and it will be once a week since he will attend regular class on weekdays.  Good luck to the nephew.  Long way to go and we are sure that you will go well and will make us all proud of you!

Enrolled and not ready to go to school yet Fri, 26 May 2017 15:17:03 +0000 The classes for the school year 2017-2018 will start in two weeks.  The kids are already enrolled and we are glad but the kids are not.  Why?  Because they are not yet ready to go to school.  They said that their vacation is too short and they want to play more than going to school.  However, they do not have any choice but to go to school.  Tomorrow their parents will buy some of their school requirements and uniforms.  My niece and nephew will go to a new school. It will be a new environment, new people, and new classmates to make but I am pretty sure that they will do well in their new school and can adopt easily.

Aside from the kids, I am not ready yet for this school year.  I haven’t rested well I guess.  I haven’t had my me time for the entire school vacation because the sister is too busy attending seminars here and there.  I just have to breathe in and breath out and pray that God will give me more strength to do all my jobs with the kids.  It will be more tiring for me because I have my seven months old niece.  I just crossed my fingers.  Sleeping late and waking up early is coming up.  I need more vitamins and energizer.LOL

Are you or your kids ready to go to school?  Or still, have vacation hangover?

]]> Everything happens for a reason Wed, 17 May 2017 15:06:31 +0000 Two months ago, my future sister-in-law was announcing that she is pregnant.  The brother and her was the happiest person on earth.  They have been waiting for this wonderful gift from Above for two years.  The prayers has been answered and we are so happy for them.  This is indeed a wonderful blessing for them and now we are planning for their wedding.  This year would be a great year for the family because of these two big events, the wedding of my brother and future SIL and the coming of their baby.  Indeed a good reason to celebrate for these very nice gifts.

Everything went well, until an unexpected thing happened.  The sister-in-law had miscarriage a week ago.  It was very unfortunate.  I am so sad when messaged me telling this sad news.  I felt so sorry for them.  I felt the pain she had at that moment.  I wish we were there to comfort her and the brother.  We just new about the sad news few days ago.  She already discharged from the hospital.  I still comforted her through facebook because they live far from us.  I really felt her pain and sadness.  I just told the SIL that everything happens for a reason.  Maybe it is not time yet.  They will soon be blessed with another one in God’s perfect time.  Always have faith and pray to God.
