Kab Scout Investiture

August 17, 2017, Thursday, was the investiture of my nephew at school.  He is now member of the Kab Scout.  One of the most important event of the nephew’s in Grade one.  As usual, his parents will not be able to see this event because they are both busy at work.  I am the one accompanying the nephew on his Kab Scout Investiture.  It is not new to me because I was the one attending with him during his Kids Scout investiture.  The nephew is excited because of the new shorts, shirt, cap, new sock and kab scout scarf.  Truly, new stuffs will make the kids excited of the event.

There was a short lecture during the event.  The teacher gave short information about the responsibilities of the Kab Scout, and the meaning of the scarf.  The highlights of the event were the investiture rights.  We lighted the candle, put the scarf on their shoulder and the kids recited the kab scout promise.  The program lasted for two hours.  It was tiring because of the hot weather, but memorable to the kids, the parents, teachers, guardians and all the guest and visitors who are witnessing the investiture rights of the Kab Scout, Kids Scout and Boy Scouts.  Some parents gave presents to their kids after putting the scarf on their shoulder.  Memorable event indeed.

His first evaluation report

Because of his late development, the nephew is enrolling in therapy clinic aside from enrolling at the school.  He went to class on weekdays and therapy every Saturday.  Sunday is the only day where he can rest and play a lot with his friends.  He is showing developments already after three months at school, but still, he needs some improvements.  In all fairness to my nephew, he is willing to learn because he participates during classes.  The only problem is that he gets distracted easily.  He can’t focus on what he is doing when he hears the noise.  He is struggling I must say being with kids who speak fluently than him, but he is trying his best to communicate.  He can’t express fully because of his communication problem.

Last Friday, his teacher gave us his first evaluation report to be shown to his therapist.  His teacher and his therapist exchanging evaluation starting last week so that the therapist will know what kind of re-enforcement he will apply for my nephew, as well as his teachers.  The evaluation report is not bad at all, in fact, is gave us a happy face reading the evaluation of his adviser teacher.  We do hope that the nephew will show improvements for him to cope up with his classmates and for him to express himself freely and better.  This is not an easy job for the nephew but showing his eagerness and excitement each day at school give us hope that the nephew will be ready to enroll in kindergarten next school year.  The nephew is only four (4) years old, he has all the time to learn.  We will do our job at home too.

Nutrition month culmination

July 28, 2017, was the nutrition month culmination of my nephew at school.  We were told to bring the assigned foods and fruits nothing more nothing less.  I do not know anything about the said event because I was not able to attend the meeting.  When I arrived at the school, all parents are busy preparing and beautifying their tables.  They are putting decorations and arranging the foods and fruits they bring.  I must say they have good table decorations, sumptuous foods on the table and amazing decorations of fruits.  It is sad that our table is empty.  I was not informed that the table presentation is a contest.  The most presentable, and the go foods, glow foods and grow foods are present on the table.

I am sad because of what had happened but I must accept that the parents in my group do not care at all.  They do not care if our table is almost empty, to them as long as they bring the assigned foods to them.haha!  They have a point though.  We are all busy to have a meeting on how are we going to do to our table for the table competition.  Better luck next time for our group.  The good thing is that I learned from it, I have more ideas on foods and table preparation for future needs.  The next nutrition month culmination I have the idea on what would be our table look like.  Because I want to experience winning too.  Of course, when given the chance.

Teaching them to be independent

I remember when I was little, my late mother always teach us to do household chores and clean our things.  She always told us to be responsible and independent.  I did not understand it back then because all I could care is to go out and play with my friends.  But when my mother passed away, I understand why my mother taught us to be a responsible and independent person.  I am so thankful to my late mother for teaching us early.  It was really difficult when my mother died, but we were able to survive because of her teachings.

I am sharing it because this is what my older sister did to her first born (son).  She wants him to be responsible and independent as early as possible.  The nephew is only six (6) years but is trained by my sister to be a good person.  The nephew is grade one now.  And we are happy that the school is practicing the kids to be an independent person.  Parents are not allowed to enter the school during lunch time.  The kids are told to bring foods for lunch and will eat inside the classroom.  I must say it is a good practice.  I feel relieved that I do not have to go to school anymore during lunch time.  Hopefully, the nephew will become a responsible and independent person.
